Places please!

I'm excited about having a new theme with familiar faces.  I look forward to teaching a very sweet group of students!!!  We had meet the teacher tonight, and it was so nice to see everyone!  Check out my classroom!!!

My hallpasses
A look from my corner of the room
A look from the classroom door
My bulletin boards.  One says, "Live From 509" (my room number) and the other "Now Featuring."  I am going to use the first one for current instructional vocabulary, techniques, strategies, etc.  The second one will be used to display student work.
A closer look.  The bench near my desk will be my reading center.  I plan to add a zebra print pillow here!
Computers and behavior.  The behavior board is hidden to give students a little more privacy.  This was a huge issue last year.  Students wanted to make fun of each other bc of behavior.  You can also see my word wall in this picture. Right now the letters are fish.  I plan to change them out to clapboards soon.
This a the view from the computers.  A new alphabet (cursive), new parts of speech posters, and punctuation posters.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my new calendar located in the upper left corner.  And yes....I do have an overhead.  My students love using it as a center.  I print reading passages, poetry, and language skills on transparency sheets and let them write on the board as they work in this center.  I also throw in math manupulatives to add some variety.  This gives me the whole interaction with the smartboard and interaction with the overhead!
This shelf is new (to me) and replaced my slanted book shelf.  I donated the slanted bookshelf to a new teacher and grabbed this one from the hallway!  I had to do a little rearranging for Meet the teacher night, but the pink buckets will go on top to hold our daily folders.  The popcorn buckets and silver buckets will be used for centers and math manipulatives currently being used.  The back side is covered with my new star fabric and will have weekly math word problems for center time.

This bookshelf remained the same.  I took my fish labels off of the baskets, replaced them with stars, and added more age appropriate books.
Just a closer look at my new curtains.  I found this fabric on the clearance rack at Wal-mart.  It was $1.50 a yard.  So I was able to do these two curtains, 3 window curtains, a large shelf curtain, and cover a bookshelf with fabric to spare for $10!!!
This is coming into my classroom from the hallway.  The sign on the top window says, "3-D Concessions" and the bottom window has popcorn kernels of extra supplies needed.
My bulletin board in the hallway.  The stars have each of my students' names.  On the first day of school we plan to take black and white "hollywood" photos with top hats, feather boas, and star sunglasses.  Students will write a biography which will be displayed here.
The hallway coming to 3rd grade.  This isn't the best picture, but it will do.  We each have a bulletin board and a street sign.  On the far end of the hall we will display a wall of fame and let the students do handprints on stars.

Homework folder labels

My teachers pay teachers store is really starting to get some traffic!  I'm so excited.  I have not made a lot of money, but I am thrilled that people actually like my products.  I took some time today to make several different "themed" homework folder labels.  I know once I get back to work the time of creating whatever I want to make will be limited.  These are a few of the homework folder labels.

Parts of Speech Posters

I made posters for each part of speech.  This is the main poster and below I will have the others.  Each part of speech is colored the poster color.  I am going to order these as posters from staples and then laminate.

Deskplates

At the end of last year I found the cutest Hollywood themed classrooms by searching the web and scrolling pinterest.  I was dead set on the theme.  As I have started preparing for back to school, I realized I did not want to "re-do" the color scheme of my classroom.  When I think of Hollywood I think of red, gold, and silver with lights, stars, awards, and a red carpet.  My "ocean theme" is fun and bright.  All the baskets in my classroom are bright, my bulletin board fabric is bright, and my posters are bright.  So instead of totally redoing my entire classroom, I have decided to keep the bright color scheme, take down any ocean themed posters/pictures, and put up zebra and stars while using "hollywood" themed sayings and posters.  The hallway coming into third grade (that's hard to say) will be hollywood theme with the red carpet and all it's glory!  I'm so excited.  I have created several new things for my room with zebra and stars.  Of course, anyone can get them at my store

These will be used to label the desks with student's names.  I will use these for the first couple of months.  We do a lot of rearranging and moving of students as the need to differentiate varies.  This just helps students find their desk when I decide to totally change the room around.  The font is actually very cute and clear when printed.  I hate it isn't as cute on the picture.  It says, "is becoming a star."  This goes perfectly with our hollwood theme and our school mascot is a star!  I will use the blue and green one for the boys and the pink and purple one for the girls.  I'm planning to print these on cardstock and use contact paper to put them on the students' desks.

Place Value Packet

I completed my first "packet" for math.  This packet includes games, vocabulary cards, and an assessment!  I'm very excited to post this on my store!  I only wish I knew how to show the entire page.  I'm learning.  You can view some of the pages at my store!  Go check it out!

Center labels

Aren't these the cutest labels?  I can't wait to label all of my center buckets and folders with these labels.  I am still trying to figure out how to upload a thumbnail from my website to this.  I may have to try another alternative!  Sorry about the blurry image.

Place Value Posters

My first math unit will be place value. I have created place value posters to hang in my classroom. You can get yours here!
