My hallpasses
A look from my corner of the room
A look from the classroom door
My bulletin boards. One says, "Live From 509" (my room number) and the other "Now Featuring." I am going to use the first one for current instructional vocabulary, techniques, strategies, etc. The second one will be used to display student work.
A closer look. The bench near my desk will be my reading center. I plan to add a zebra print pillow here!
Computers and behavior. The behavior board is hidden to give students a little more privacy. This was a huge issue last year. Students wanted to make fun of each other bc of behavior. You can also see my word wall in this picture. Right now the letters are fish. I plan to change them out to clapboards soon.
This a the view from the computers. A new alphabet (cursive), new parts of speech posters, and punctuation posters. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my new calendar located in the upper left corner. And yes....I do have an overhead. My students love using it as a center. I print reading passages, poetry, and language skills on transparency sheets and let them write on the board as they work in this center. I also throw in math manupulatives to add some variety. This gives me the whole interaction with the smartboard and interaction with the overhead!
This shelf is new (to me) and replaced my slanted book shelf. I donated the slanted bookshelf to a new teacher and grabbed this one from the hallway! I had to do a little rearranging for Meet the teacher night, but the pink buckets will go on top to hold our daily folders. The popcorn buckets and silver buckets will be used for centers and math manipulatives currently being used. The back side is covered with my new star fabric and will have weekly math word problems for center time.
This bookshelf remained the same. I took my fish labels off of the baskets, replaced them with stars, and added more age appropriate books.
Just a closer look at my new curtains. I found this fabric on the clearance rack at Wal-mart. It was $1.50 a yard. So I was able to do these two curtains, 3 window curtains, a large shelf curtain, and cover a bookshelf with fabric to spare for $10!!!
This is coming into my classroom from the hallway. The sign on the top window says, "3-D Concessions" and the bottom window has popcorn kernels of extra supplies needed.
My bulletin board in the hallway. The stars have each of my students' names. On the first day of school we plan to take black and white "hollywood" photos with top hats, feather boas, and star sunglasses. Students will write a biography which will be displayed here.
The hallway coming to 3rd grade. This isn't the best picture, but it will do. We each have a bulletin board and a street sign. On the far end of the hall we will display a wall of fame and let the students do handprints on stars.
